Just 55 miles from Las Vegas, this area offers stunning desert scenery, ancient petroglyphs, and petrified wood deposits accessible by well-maintained dirt roads and more adventurous backcountry routes outside the park boundaries.

The Aztec Sandstone formations are 150 million years old, formed from ancient sand dunes.
Ancient petroglyphs in the park were created by the Basketmaker and Anasazi peoples around 300 BC.
