Umpqua National Forest sprawls across southern Oregon's Cascade Range, offering hundreds of miles of forest roads through volcanic terrain, old-growth forests, and alongside crystal-clear rivers. The North Umpqua River canyon provides a dramatic backbone for exploration, with natural hot springs, waterfalls, and fishing holes scattered along its length. Higher elevation roads access alpine lakes, volcanic craters, and views of Mount Thielsen's distinctive spire. This is gentle overlanding through spectacular scenery, with enough diversity to fill a week of exploration.

Toketee Falls drops 113 feet over columnar basalt formations formed by ancient lava flows.
The forest contains part of the Oregon Cascades Recreation Area with over 200 lakes.
Umpqua Hot Springs sits in a natural rock pool 150 feet above the North Umpqua River.
