Broken Arrow is Sedona's most popular 4WD trail, offering accessible slickrock driving amid the red rock formations that define Arizona's most scenic destination. The trail winds through signature formations including Submarine Rock and Chicken Point, delivering iconic Southwest scenery at every turn. Unlike Moab's extreme terrain, Broken Arrow's moderate difficulty makes it achievable for most 4WD vehicles while still providing a genuine off-road adventure. The combination of technical slickrock, stunning red rock views, and accessibility has made this the most-photographed off-road trail in Arizona.

The trail was named after the 1950 James Stewart western 'Broken Arrow' filmed in the area.
Sedona's red rocks get their color from iron oxide (rust) in the sandstone.
Pink Jeep Tours has operated on this trail since 1960, introducing millions to off-roading.
The rock formations are about 270 million years old, from the Permian period.
