2026 4x4 Crawl Ratio Dataset
Last updated: October 26, 2026 (sources checked October 20, 2026)
Quick Answer
Across 22 factory 2026 configurations, crawl ratios run from 39.9:1 (Ram 1500 4x4, 3.6L V6, 3.21 axle) to 100.1:1 (Wrangler Rubicon 3.6L manual with optional 4.88 axles). Every truck with a 2.57 to 2.72 low range lands between 39.9:1 and 58.4:1. Every Rubicon, with Jeep's 4.0 low range, lands between 77.2:1 and 100.1:1. Download the full table as a CSV below.
Key findings
- Low range splits the field. The transfer case matters more than anything else. Jeep's 4.0 Rock-Trac low range puts every Rubicon at 77.2:1 or deeper; nothing else in the dataset passes 58.4:1.
- Toyota's off-road flagships crawl like a base Wrangler. The 2026 4Runner TRD Pro and Trailhunter and the Tacoma TRD Pro automatic are all 40.6:1, below a Wrangler Sport automatic at 44.2:1.
- Manuals go deeper. The Tacoma 6-speed manual reaches 52.9:1 against 40.6:1 for the automatic, and the Wrangler Rubicon manual reaches 84.1:1 against 77.2:1.
- The deepest full-size truck is the Ram 2500 Power Wagon or any Ram 2500 4x4 6.4L Hemi with 4.10 axles, at 51.0:1.
- Best midsize without a Jeep 4.0 low range: the Frontier 4x4 at 54.4:1 (Nissan prints 54.42:1).

Methodology
Crawl ratio is the transmission's first gear multiplied by the transfer case low range and by the axle ratio. We take each of the three numbers exactly as the automaker prints it in its own 2026 document: Stellantis Media spec sheets and towing charts for Jeep and Ram, toyota.com mechanical spec pages for Toyota, and the 2026 Frontier press kit for Nissan. We multiply and round to one decimal. Figures are for factory tires and factory axles only.
We list a configuration only when the automaker's own 2026 document gives all three numbers. That is why the Ford Bronco and GM trucks are not in this version, and why some Toyota trims without a published low range are left out. A taller tire lowers the effective crawl ratio: by Jeep's revolutions per mile, moving a Rubicon from 285/70R17 to 315/70R17 tires turns 77.2:1 into an effective 73.2:1. Use our gear ratio calculator for your own tire size.
