What to expect
Several foot paths drop from the camping area to the river, and the North Country National Scenic Trail passes below and west of the site. The Forest Service lists river fishing, non-motorized boating, day hikes and backpacking.
The name traces back to sawdust piles from early 1900s mills that cut logs salvaged from the river.
