Bundy Hill Off-Road Park

Bundy Hill Offroad in Jerome, Michigan is a privately operated park run by Bundy Hill Offroad Recreation Co on a property the operator describes as 300 plus acres, closer to 350 by other accounts, rather than the 800 acres our record carried. It packs a lot into that footprint. The park lays out miles of all-terrain trails through hardwood with hill climbs, rock challenges, mud, and a rock garden, plus specific obstacles the operator calls out: erosion washes, gulches, and rock steps up to 24 inches. Trails are rated on a color tier system that runs from green through red, which the park describes as buggy territory, so the single Moderate rating our record carried undersells the top end. Everything is open to off-road vehicles broadly, including OHVs, ATVs, UTVs, and full-size 4x4s. Requirements are straightforward. Every visitor signs a release and waiver of liability, safety flags are required on all vehicles, and motorcycles need a spark arrestor. Check the park's site for current fees and hours before you go, since those change season to season. Primitive on-site camping is available, which turns this into a weekend rather than a day trip for anyone driving up from Toledo, Fort Wayne, or Detroit. The regular season runs mid-March through mid-November, and the park is typically open Thursday through Sunday within that window, so a Monday visit is not an option. Southern Michigan clay is the dominant surface and it behaves in two completely different ways depending on the week, hard-packed and grippy in a dry August, and a genuine winch recovery exercise after a wet spring. The green trails are genuinely beginner friendly and the red trails are not, so read the map at the gate and work up rather than driving into something on a guess.
