Reiter Foothills ORV Area delivers surprisingly technical terrain within easy reach of the Seattle metro area. The DNR-managed area features rocky trail sections, steep hill climbs, and muddy forest roads that challenge moderately built 4x4s. The rock gardens are the main attraction, with boulder-strewn trails requiring careful wheel placement and ground clearance. It's an excellent training ground for drivers preparing for more remote destinations.
Fun Facts
The Reiter Foothills area was extensively logged in the early 1900s. The current forest is regrowth.
The rock gardens are composed of glacial till deposited during the last ice age.
Gold Bar got its name from gold found in the Sultan River by prospectors in the 1860s.
