Johnson Valley OHV Area is a high desert paradise spanning over 180,000 acres of the Mojave Desert, world-famous as the home of King of the Hammers. The terrain varies from flat dry lakes perfect for high-speed desert racing to the notorious Hammers, a network of rock crawling trails that have broken the most capable vehicles on earth. Named trails like Aftershock, Jackhammer, and Chocolate Thunder offer increasing levels of difficulty, from challenging boulder gardens to seemingly impossible crack climbs. Beyond the Hammers, the vast desert floor offers endless exploration opportunities across sandy washes, Joshua tree forests, and old mining roads. The area's open access and diverse terrain make it perfect for everything from stock SUV exploring to purpose-built buggy racing.
