Hart Mountain National Antelope Refuge is one of Oregon's most remote and rewarding destinations, a 278,000-acre expanse of high desert steppe and mountain terrain that exists primarily for wildlife. The western escarpment rises 3,000 feet from the Warner Valley floor, creating a dramatic approach that sets the tone for what lies above. Free hot springs at the campground, vast pronghorn herds, and some of the darkest night skies in Oregon make this a bucket-list destination for overlanders who value solitude and natural beauty.
