Lava flows, spatter cones, maars (volcanic craters formed by groundwater interaction), and pressure ridges are all accessible by BLM roads that loop through the area. The surrounding high desert adds to the otherworldly atmosphere, with sagebrush stretching to the horizon in every direction. It's a place that rewards curiosity and geological interest.
