The Adirondack Park is the largest publicly protected area in the contiguous United States, a vast wilderness of old-growth forest, alpine peaks, and over 3,000 lakes connected by a network of forest roads that see remarkably little traffic. The backcountry roads access some of the most remote terrain east of the Mississippi.

The park contains 46 High Peaks over 4,000 feet.
