What to expect
Trailer and tent sites are open to groups, individuals and camping clubs. The former island is now tied to the mainland by a white-sand causeway, with picnic tables, grills and views of Flanders Bay.
Getting there
The park is on Cross River Drive (Route 105), Riverhead, NY 11901. From the LIE, take exit 71, turn right on Route 24, follow it south through the Riverhead Traffic Circle, turn left at the next light onto Route 105, and the entrance is on the right.

- Season: Suffolk County says its camping season generally runs April through Veterans Day. Indian Island is one of two county parks that offer winter camping, when possible, for self-contained campers only.
