About This Campground
Burning Bear Campground sits at 9,813 feet on the Guanella Pass Scenic Byway in the Pike National Forest, about 7 miles south of Mount Bierstadt. Its 13 sites take RVs, trailers and tents, with tables, grills and vault toilets on dirt aprons. The hand pump is down for the rest of the 2026 season, so bring all your water. Expect potholes and washboard on the road in. The area has roads open to off-highway vehicles, and the Mount Evans Wilderness is right behind camp. Some sites are first come, first served.
