About This Campground
Charlton Recreation Area is a Civilian Conservation Corps era campground on spring-fed Walnut Creek, 17 miles west of Hot Springs on Highway 270 in the Ouachita National Forest. B-Loop sites have 30 to 50 amp electric and water at the site. C-Loop sites 1 to 10 have 30 amp electric and water, some with sewer, while A-Loop is basic sites with shared water and no restrooms. There is a dump station, and the creek swim area is known for very cold water. Stays are capped at 14 days in any 30.
