Silver Lake Sand Dunes offers a unique Midwest off-road experience: 450 acres of towering Lake Michigan sand dunes open to ORV use. The dunes rise up to 130 feet above the lake, providing challenging climbs, thrilling descents, and stunning panoramas of the Great Lakes. This is the only place in Michigan where you can drive a 4x4 right down to the Lake Michigan shoreline on sand. The area draws families, dune buggies, and Jeep clubs from across the Midwest for a beach-and-dunes adventure unlike anything else in the region.
Fun Facts
Silver Lake Dunes are the only sand dunes in Michigan open to ORV use on the dune face.
The dunes were formed over 3,000 years ago by wind depositing sand from retreating glacial Lake Michigan.
Little Sable Point Lighthouse, visible from the dunes, was built in 1874 and still operates today.
