# Medano Pass Primitive Road

**Vehicle requirements:** 4WD with low range and rear locker, 33"+ mud-terrain tires, 2–3" lift, rock sliders, and recovery gear required.

**Best season:** June - October

The back door to Great Sand Dunes over a 10,000-foot pass. Deep sand at the base gives way to rocky mountain terrain, with six creek crossings and views of 750-foot dunes.
